Computer Tab

You use the Computer tab in the Computers (SP) application to view information about computers deployed in your organization and, if necessary, to delete computer records from the database.

The Computer tab displays the following information about a computer:

The following information about the computer is displayed in the Computer Details area of the Computer tab:

The RAM Information area of the Computer tab displays the following data about the random access memory (RAM) on the computer:

The BIOS Information area of the Computer tab displays the following data about the computer's BIOS:

If the check box is selected, the discovery tool determined that the BIOS supports PNP. If the check box is cleared, the discovery tool did not determine that the BIOS supports PNP. If the detection tool did not collect this data, the default value is used, and the check box is cleared.

If the check box is selected, the discovery tool determined SMBIOS is supported. If the check box is cleared, the asset discovery tool did not determine that SMBIOS is supported. If the detection tool did not collect this data, the default value is used, and the check box is cleared.

The Motherboard Information area of the Computer tab displays the following data about the computer's motherboard:

The Detection Information area on the tab also displays the following data about how the computer data was collected:

If the check box is selected, the discovery tool determined that the computer supports SNMP. If the check box is cleared, the discovery tool did not determine that the computer supports SNMP. If the detection tool did not collect this data, the default value is used, and the check box is cleared.

If the check box is selected, the discovery tool determined that the computer supports WMI. If the check box is cleared, the discovery tool did not determine that the computer supports WMI. If the detection tool did not collect this data, the default value is used, and the check box is cleared.

The Mainframe Information area on the tab also displays the following data about mainframe computers:

Data displayed on this tab varies depending on the discovery tool used to collect the data. Some data fields might be empty. An empty field indicates that the discovery tool did not collect the data or that administrators did not map the data for import into the database.

Data displayed in some fields is affected by parameters your administrator defines in administrative applications. Administrative applications determine how to display manufacturer, media adapter, operating system, processor, and software names as well as software suites and usage frequency data for software applications.

For information about a field, place the cursor in the field and press Alt+F1.
