Delete a Computer

You use the Computer tab in the Computers application to delete computer records. Computer records cannot be deleted from other tabs in the application.

On the List tab you can delete selected computer records or all computer records in the table window. You can also select an computer record, view it, and delete it from the Computer tab.

When you delete a computer record, the application deletes all component information for that computer. You cannot delete information about individual components on a computer record.

If you delete a computer record but your discovery tool detects the same computer again in subsequent scans, a record is created again when computer data is imported into the database.

If a computer record in the Computers (SP) application corresponds to a computer listed in the Asset Link Results (SP) application, deleting the computer record from the Computers (SP) application also deletes the record in the Asset Link Results (SP) application.

To delete computer records from the List tab:

In the Computers (SP) application, on the List tab, select one of the following options:

• To delete all computer records retrieved in the table window:

1. From the Select Action menu, select Delete Computer(s). The application displays a confirmation dialog box asking you to confirm that you want to delete all rows.

2. On the deletion confirmation dialog box, click Yes. The application deletes all computers in the table window.

• To delete selected computer records:

Note: You cannot use this feature unless your result set is less than 200 rows.

1. To select specific computer records, select the Select Records check box at the bottom of the List tab table window. The application displays a Select Row check box next to each row in the table window.

2. In the List table window, click the Select Row check box for each record that you want to delete.

3. After you have selected the check box for each record that you want to delete, select Delete Computer(s) from the Select Action menu. The application displays a confirmation dialog box asking you to confirm that you want to delete selected rows.

4. On the deletion confirmation dialog box, click Yes. The application deletes the selected computer record or records.

To delete a computer from the Computer tab:

1. In the Computers (SP) application, on the List tab, click the computer record that you want to delete. The application displays the selected computer record on the Computer tab.

2. From the Select Action menu, select Delete Computer(s).

3. On the deletion confirmation dialog box, click Yes to delete the computer record.
