Assign Owner to Multiple Incident Tickets

The owner of a group of incident tickets manages the work associated with those tickets. You can assign ownership of multiple incidents to a person or a person group. The system also might assign ownership through workflow or an escalation process. If your administrator has created work views, all owners of work see the work in their work view.

To assign an owner to multiple incident tickets:

  1. On the List tab in the Incidents (SP) application, click the Select Records check box at the bottom of the page. A Select Record check box opens next to each record on the List tab.

  2. Select the records whose ownership you want to assign. You might need to narrow your result set before you can select records.

Note: To select a record, click the Select Record check box.
To cancel a selection, clear the check box.
To select all records in the result set, select the check box next to the column header.

  1. From the Select Action menu, select Select Owner, or from the Toolbar, click Select Owner to open the Select Owner dialog box.

  2. In the Select Owner dialog box, click the Persons tab or Person Groups tab.

  1. Select an owner or owner group and click OK. You select an owner to assign the records to a specific person. You select an owner group to assign the records to a pool of individuals who are each capable of addressing the records, and who might divide the work among themselves.

Note: When you assign ownership of multiple incidents, their status changes to QUEUED. (The exception to the status change is when the status is RESOLVED before an owner is assigned. In this case, the status does not change.)
