Create a Change

You can create a change work order from an incident. You might do so if resolving the incident involves changes to existing implementations of things such as hardware, network configurations, software, desktop builds, or related documentation. Creating a change from an incident makes the change a follow-up to the incident. For more information on change records, see the Changes (SP) Help.

To create a change:

  1. In the Incidents (SP) application, display the record for which you want to create a change. This originating record must have a value in the Site field.

  2. From the Select Action menu, select Create > Change.
The system creates the change record and gives it a status of Waiting on Approval. You see a confirmation message with the identifier of the new change record.

This record is now related to the incident as a follow-up.

You can view more information about the change record in the Changes (SP) application. You might need security authorization to perform this action.

To view the change in the Changes (SP) application:

  1. On the Related Records tab, click Detail Menu next to the identifier of the change record.

  2. Select Go To > Go To Changes. The system displays the change record in the Changes (SP) application.

The incident used to create the change is listed as the originator in the Related Tickets table window on the Related Records tab.
