Create a Work OrderYou can create a work order from an incident. You might do so if resolving the incident requires a work order, rather than an activity, to resolve the issue. For more information on work orders, see the Work Order Tracking (SP) Help.
When you create a work order from an incident, you create a relationship between the two records. Creating such a relationship usually is for information purposes only, with no inheritance of status or other type of linkage. However, your system administrator might configure the system to allow the work order to update the status of its originator.
In the Incidents (SP) application, display the record for which you want to create a work order.
From the Select
Action menu, select Create > Work Order. The system creates a work
order and informs you of its identifier.
You can view information about the record on the Related Records tab.
You can also view the record in its application.
Site Information
If the incident contains a value in the Asset
Site field, the system copies the value to the Site
field of the work order.
If the incident does not contain a value in the Asset Site field but
does contain a value in the Site
field, the system copies that value to the Site
field of the work order.
If neither field contains a value, the system copies the default insert
site of the logged in user to the Site
field of the work order.
