Add Item Specifications

You use the Item Master (SP) application to add item specifications that further define an item. You use the Specifications tab to classify an item and apply the specification template that is associated with the classification you used. Specification templates contain attributes about an item, such as its size, speed, material, and capacity. You can use this list of attributes to define specific information about the item, therefore making it easier to distinguish it from other very similar items.

To add item specifications:

  1. Display the item record to which you want to add item specifications.

  2. Click the Specifications tab.

  3. In the Alphanumeric or Numeric fields, enter a value or click Detail Menu to select an option and retrieve a  value that is specific to this item.

  4. In the Unit of Measure fields, enter a value or click Select Value to retrieve the unit of measure used to express the attribute. (For example, if the attribute is SPEED, the unit of measure can be HP, for horsepower.)

  5. After you define the attributes, click Save Item to associate these specification values to the item record.

If you need to change an item's specification, either reclassify the item from the Classification field or change the values in the Specifications table.
