Classify an Item

You identify and characterize items with classifications. When you classify an item, you can use the classification and, where appropriate, the attributes, to search for records.

To classify an item:

  1. From the List tab of the Items (SP) application, select the item that you want to classify.

  2. On the Specification tab, next to the Classification field, click Detail Menu and select Classify .

  3. In the Classify dialog box, expand the classification hierarchy for any node by clicking Show Children .

  1. To select a classification level and return to the record, click . The classification path, from the top level to the node you selected is added to the field. When you select a classification, one or more attributes may be copied to the Specifications table window.

  2. Optional: Click New Row to add attributes to the item specification
