Item Tab

You use the Item tab in the Item Master (SP) application to add records for items that your organizations use and that you stock in storerooms. Examples of items include materials, supplies, equipment, software, and hardware. After you create an item record on this tab,  you can refer to it on a work order or in an Item Assembly Structure (IAS). The same principle applies to purchase requisitions, purchase orders, request for quotes, and job plans.

Examples of attributes that you can associate to an item include commodity codes and groups, meters and meter groups, lot type, material safety data sheets (MSDS), and the issue and order unit. You can also specify whether the item is outside, capitalized, rotating, condition-enabled, part of a kit, used as a spare part, is to be inspected on receipt, and is to be attached to parent asset when issued.

In the Alternate Items table window, you can add, view, modify, or delete a list of other items that you can use interchangeably with this one.  Items can have one or more alternate items. The table window displays the item number and description of interchangeable items.

In the Condition Codes table window, you can add, view, modify, or delete a list of condition codes for this item, if the item is condition-enabled.
