You can add a classification to an item on the Specification tab of the Items (SP) application.
There are two types of classifications, global classifications, and customer-specific classifications. Only global classifications can be added to an item, even if the item is associated with one or more customers that have customer-specific classifications defined. Customer-specific classifications cannot be added to items.
Attributes define the characteristics of a classification. When you classify an item, attributes of the classification are copied to the Specification tab.
There are two types of attributes, global attributes and customer-specific attributes. Items can only use global attributes, even if the item is associated with a customer and customer-specific attributes exist for that customer.
