Apply Item Assembly Structure

You use the Apply Item Assembly Structure (IAS) action in the Locations (SP) application to create location records for rotating assets associated with the item. When you apply the same IAS to both a location and an asset, a location hierarchy is created to match the asset hierarchy.

Before you apply an IAS to a location, you must specify a rotating item in the Rotating Item field of the location. The location must belong to the Primary system.

To apply an item assembly structure:

  1. Display the location to which you want to apply an item assembly structure.

  2. From the Select Action menu, select Apply Item Assembly Structure.

  3. In the Apply Item Assembly Structure dialog box, assign numbers to the operating locations in the hierarchy by selecting one of the following options:

  4. To assign values to each location individually:

  1. In the top row of the table, enter a value in the Current Location field.

  2. Click in the row below and enter a value in the Current Location field for that row.

  3. Repeat Steps a and b until you assign locations for all the items in the hierarchy.

  4. To automatically assign values to each location, click Autonumber All. Locations are created for all rotating items in the hierarchy, including children of the items shown.

  1. Click OK to close the dialog box. For each location you created, add information to the location record as needed.

  2. Click Save Location .
