You create hierarchy or network systems to organize your locations in the Locations (SP) application.
You designate one location hierarchy system in a site as the primary system. If assets in different locations are part of an asset hierarchy, the locations must be in the primary system.
You also designate one hierarchy system in a site as the address system. Address systems are used with locations associated with service addresses. When a ticket or work order is created for a location, the system searches for the service address for the location. It copies the service address to the ticket or work order. If the location does not have a service address, the system adds the service address of the nearest ancestor in the address system. If the location is not part of the address system, or if there is no service address for any location in the address system, no service address is copied to the ticket or work order.
A system can be both a primary and an address system.
Note: The first location that you add to a system becomes the top-level location in the system. For every other location you add to the system, you specify a parent location. Plan carefully before you add the first location to a system.
