Manage Meter Reading HistoryManage Meter Reading HistoryYou use the Manage Meter Reading History action to view or update historical meter readings. When you update a meter reading, the system applies the delta (change) readings to all of the readings for that meter that are more recent than the date on which you make the update. Readings taken at a location may roll down to the assets in that location if those assets are set up to accept them.
Note: Depending on your security authorization, you might be able to only view historical readings and not update them.
Display the location whose meter history you want to update.
From the Select Action menu, select Manage Meter Reading History.
In
the Manage Meter History dialog box, click View Details 
for the meter that you want to update.
To enter a delta for the selected meter, perform the following actions:
Select the Enter as Delta check box.
Enter a reading in the Modified Delta field.
To enter an actual reading for the selected meter, enter a value in the Modified Reading field.
You can enter a reason for the update in the Reason field.
To update the meter history, click OK; to close the dialog box without updating the history, click Cancel.
If a meter reading for a location is updated, the change is applied to all delta (change) readings for that meter that are more recent than the reading date of the modified meter reading. If a meter or location has been added to the hierarchy since the original meter reading, its readings will not be updated since it was not present at the time of the original reading.
The update will cease as soon as the first actual reading is reached. The change is also applied to other locations that were attached to the original location at the time the meter reading was taken (reading date) and that can inherit values from the parent.
When a reading is modified the system will also, along with the meter reading, capture the modified date, user and a reason for the change.
Entered values must follow the same rules as newly entered values. For example: A new reading cannot be less than the previous reading unless the meter has a rollover point. The same is true for historical changes. A reading cannot exceed a subsequent reading if the meter does not have a rollover point.
Since a meter rollover may be changed, the metadata, including rollover, for an inserted reading will be copied from the preceding reading.
If a reading is deemed acceptable, the averages and cumulative readings will be recalculated and the change will roll down the asset hierarchy.
The system will also check to see if any PMs are due as a result of the meter reading change. This check will be performed on all assets whose meter readings were changed. It is important to note that all children updated as a result of a reading change will also trigger checks of PMs for those assets as well. All METERREADING entries for reading corrections will include date time stamp and the user.
You can use the Meters application to insert a meter reading for a past date that is earlier than the current meter reading date. When such a record is inserted, the system checks the mode of meter update for the next reading in the history table. If that record was updated using a delta value, then the meter reading is recalculated for that record. The meter reading is also recalculated for the subsequent records that were recorded after the inserted record date. The system continues to recalculate records until it reaches a record that was updated using an actual meter reading instead of a delta value. The system will also look for the children that were attached to the asset during the inserted record date and update their history as well by applying the delta of the parent.
If the immediate next reading was updated by giving an actual meter reading then the inserted record will not affect any subsequent readings.
Note: If you require an audit trail of original reading data prior to an update, you must use Audit capability.
