Delete a Network Device

You use the Network Device tab in the Network Devices (SP) application to delete a network device record. Network devices include devices such as routers, switches, and hubs. Network printer information is maintained in the Network Printers (SP) application.

On the List tab you can delete selected network device records or all network device records in the table window. You can also select a network device record, view it, and delete it from the Network Device tab.

If you delete a network device record but your discovery tool detects the same device again in subsequent scans, a record is created again when network device data is imported into the database.

If a network device record in the Network Devices (SP) application corresponds to a device listed in the Asset Link Results (SP) application, deleting the network device record from the Network Devices (SP) application also deletes the result record in the Asset Link Results (SP) application.

To delete network device records from the List tab:

In the Network Devices (SP) application, on the List tab, select one of the following options:

• To delete all network device records retrieved in the table window:

1. From the Select Action menu, select Delete Network Device(s). The application displays a confirmation dialog box asking you to confirm that you want to delete all rows.

2. On the deletion confirmation dialog box, click Yes. The application deletes all network devices in the table window.

• To delete selected network device records:

Note: You cannot use this feature unless your result set is less than 200 rows.

1. To select specific network device records, select the Select Records check box at the bottom of the List tab table window. The application displays a Select Row check box next to each row in the table window.

2. In the List table window, click the Select Row check box for each record that you want to delete.

3. After you have selected the check box for each record that you want to delete, select Delete Network Device(s) from the Select Action menu. The application displays a confirmation dialog box asking you to confirm that you want to delete selected rows.

4. On the deletion confirmation dialog box, click Yes. The application deletes the selected network device record or records.

To delete a network device from the Network Device tab:

1. In the Network Devices (SP) application, on the List tab, click the network device record that you want to delete. The application displays the selected network device record on the Network Device tab.

2. From the Select Action menu, select Delete Network Device(s).

3. On the deletion confirmation dialog box, click Yes to delete the network device record.
