Network Device TabNetwork Device TabYou use the Network Device tab in the Network Devices (SP) application to view information about a network device such as a hub, router, or switch. Computers and network printers are not displayed in the Network Devices (SP) application; for information about computers and network printers, refer to the Computers (SP) application or Network Printers (SP) application.
Note: Data displayed in the Network Devices (SP) application varies depending on the discovery tool used to collect the data. Some data fields in the application may be empty. An empty field indicates that data was not collected by the discovery tool or that administrators did not map the data for import into the database.
The Network Device tab displays the following information about a network device:
device name
device description
the site at which the device is located
role or function of the device (The role is assigned to the device by the collection tool.)
customer that is associated with the network device. This customer can be the customer that owns the device, or the customer on whose behalf a service provider discovers assets.
The Network Device Details section on the Network Device tab displays the following information about the network device:
serial number
asset tag
manufacturer
make/model
RAM size
operating system version
firmware version
domain name
network address (usually the TCP/IP address)
MAC address, the Media Access Control address that uniquely identifies each node of a network
network source identifier
description
GUID (globally unique identifier)
Unique id. You can use the Detail Menu in this field to navigate to the Actual Configuration Items (SP) application.
The Detection Information section on the Network Device tab displays the following information:
hardware detection tool
hardware last scan date
whether the computer supports SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and has it enabled
