Activate an Organization

When you first create an organization, it is inactive by default. To make it active, you must specify a clearing account for the organization, and to select a clearing account you must first create the account in Chart of Accounts.

To activate an organization:

Complete the steps below for the Chart of Accounts application and then the Organizations (SP) application.

Chart of Accounts

  1. Open the Chart of Accounts application.

  2. In the Organizations table window, select the organization you want to activate. Because this is a new organization, there are no existing GL account codes, nor are there any existing GL component values.

Note: In the Organizations (SP) application, you must have saved the new organization record for the organization to appear in this window.

  1. From the Select Actions menu, select GL Component Maintenance. The GL Component Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. Insert a component value for each of the required components. See the associated dialog box help for detailed instructions.

  3. Click OK.

  4. In the GL Accounts table window, click New Row.

  5. In the GL Account field, enter the GL account consisting of the components you just created. You can click Select Value to use the Select GL Account dialog box.

  6. Make sure the Active? check box is selected.

  7. Click Close Details .

  8. Click OK.

Organizations

  1. Go back to, or open the Organizations (SP) application, and select the new organization.

  2. On the Organization tab, in the Clearing Account field, click Select Value and enter the account code you created in Chart of Accounts.

  3. In the Active? field, select the check box.

  4. Click Save Organization .

The new organization is now active. You can activate any sites that are inactive.
