Define a Work Type

You use the Work Type dialog box to define and edit work types for given classes of work orders.

To define a new work type:

  1. In the Organizations (SP) application, select the organization for which you want to define a work type.

  2. From the Select Action menu, select Work Order Options, then select Work Type.

  3. Click New Row.

  4. In the Work Order Class field, enter the work order class or click Select Value .

  5. In the Work Type field, enter the name of the work type, typically a shorthand code name. For example, CM (for Corrective Maintenance).

  6. In the Description field, enter a description. For example, Corrective Maintenance.

  7. In the Type field, click Select Value to choose a category of work type. For example, REPAIR, to indicate a corrective maintenance repair.

  8. If you want the Downtime Report page to open after a user completes or closes a work order of this work type, select the Downtime Prompt? check box.

  9. If you want the List Failure Codes page to open when a user completes or closes a work order of this work type, select click the Failure Prompt? check box.

  10. Click OK.

You can edit or delete user-defined work types.
