Create a ReleaseIn the toolbar, click New Release . The system automatically numbers the new release. You can change the default release number by typing a new number in the Release field. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.
As needed, enter
a description of the work in the Summary
field. Click Long Description
to enter a long description
if needed.
In the Priority field, enter a priority for the work order if you plan to schedule it.
Choose one of the following options:
If the change is for a location, in the Location field, specify the location.
If the change is for an asset, in the Asset field, specify the asset.
If the change is for a configuration item, in the Configuration Item field, specify the configuration item.
If the change is to be charged to a GL account rather that to an asset, location, or CI, in the GL Account field, specify the GL account.
Assets, locations, and configuration items—After specifying the primary affected asset, location, and configuration item in the designated fields, you can specify multiple related assets, locations, and configuration items in the Multiple Assets, Locations, and CIs table window. For example, if you are creating a ticket to install graphic software on all Product Managers' laptops, you can define the primary (targeted CI) as ‘Product Managers' Laptops’. Using the Multiple Assets, Locations, and CIs table window, you — or another user — can eventually refine this into the actual list of Product Manager laptops.
Optional: If there is no location, asset, or configuration item with a customer for the change, specify the customer directly in the Customer field.
To assign a release type to the release, click Select Value on the Release Type field and select a type. Most of the other fields in this section are filled with default values.
In the other sections of the screen, enter information as needed.
Click Save Release .
Note: When you create a release, it has a status of Waiting On Approval (WAPPR). Use the additional tabs in the Release (SP) application to add or modify information for this record. For example, to apply a job plan to the record, or define hierarchy information, click the Plans tab.
For auditing purposes, it is not always possible to delete a release. To stop all action on a release, change the status to Canceled (CAN).
For more information about deletion rules, see the Delete a Release topic.
