Task Filters (SP) ApplicationNote: This application is part of the Reconciliation module. To learn to use the Reconciliation module, see the Reconciliation Module Implementation Guide in addition to this online help. The guide contains basic information about the reconciliation process and explains how to set up reconciliation tasks.
You use the Task Filters (SP) application in the Reconciliation module to create, view, modify, duplicate, and delete task filter records. A task filter record specifies a subset of objects that you want to evaluate when you execute a reconciliation task.
You define reconciliation tasks in the Reconciliation module. The Reconciliation module applications let you evaluate data about information technology. You use these applications to compare information from one data set with information in another data set. For more information about Reconciliation module data sets, see Reconciliation Module Data Sets.
The reconciliation process identifies matches, discrepancies, and variances between the two data sets. To execute a reconciliation, you set up a reconciliation task in the Reconciliation Tasks (SP) application. A reconciliation task combines the elements required for a reconciliation into a specific task that you schedule for execution using the Cron Task Setup application. You can limit the scope of a reconciliation task by including a task filter. For example, you can define a filter that selects only configuration items (CIs) at a specific site, such as Boston. When executing a reconciliation task with that task filter, the system selects only top-level CIs at the Boston site for reconciliation against actual CIs.
Once you create a task filter, you use the Reconciliation Tasks (SP) application to associate the filter with a specific reconciliation task, and the system applies the task filter each time the reconciliation task is executed. Setting up a task filter for a reconciliation task is optional. If you do not define a task filter for a reconciliation task, the system uses all ASSETs or CIs as the default.
For more information about the components of a task filter, see Task Filter Components.
You use the Task Filters (SP) application to perform the following actions:
Create a new task filter.
Delete a task filter.
Duplicate a task filter.
Modify an existing task filter.
The Task Filters (SP) application has the following tabs:
List: to search for task filters.
Task Filter: to define new task filters and view, edit, duplicate, and delete existing task filters.
