Add a GroupYou use the Group tab in the Security Groups (SP) application to add a group to the system.
Open the Security Groups (SP) application.
Click New Group . The system displays the Group tab.
In the Group field, enter a name for the group.
You might name a group after a site, for example, TORONTO, or for some functional unit, such as MAINTENANCE, HELPDESK, and so forth.
Enter a description in the Group Description field. To enter additional information, click Long Description .
In the Start Center Template field, enter the name of the start center you want the system to display when a user in the group logs in. Click Select Value to select from a list.
You do not need to specify a start center. Users also have the option to customize their start centers. If a user belongs to groups with different start centers, he or she can choose a default from the start center's Display Settings option.
By default, the system merges rights when groups that include different sites are combined. If you do not want rights combined, select the Independent of Other Groups? check box. Refer to the System Administrator's Guide for a discussion of combining group rights.
Click Save Group .
You now have a new group with no defined privileges or restrictions. You use the other tabs and the Select Action menu to define the security for the group.
When you create a group, you are authorized to add users to the group. Users can be added from the Users tab of the Security Groups (SP) application, or from the Users application.
Note: If implementation uses an application server to authenticate with a directory, groups may be created in the directory and synchronized into the system.
