Override Password Duration for a Group

You set password duration at the system level using the Password Requirements section of the Security Controls dialog box. However, you can make password duration specific to a group by overriding the system setting.

To override the system setting, you use the Override Password Duration dialog box in the Security Groups (SP) application.

To override password duration for a group:

  1. On the List tab in the Security Groups (SP) application, select the group for which you want to override the password duration.

  2. From the Select Action menu, select Override Password Duration. The Override Password Duration dialog box opens.

  3. In the Password Lasts this Number of Days field, enter the password duration for this group.

  4. In Days Before Password Expires to Warn User field, enter the value for this group.

  5. Click OK.

Note: When you change the password duration for a group, the password expiration for users in the group will be updated.

Note: If implementation uses an application server to authenticate with an external directory (via LDAP), this functionality is not used because the directory manages passwords.
