Sites Tab

You use the Sites tab in the Security Groups (SP) application to specify which sites a group has access to.

The Sites tab contains an Authorize Group for All Sites? check box, and a single table window:

• Sites - to list individually the sites a group has access to.

If you select the all sites option, you cannot enter individual sites in the table window.

With a multisite implementation of the system, you typically define a group for each site and another group that has access to all sites. For example, you might have sites named TORONTOSITE, LONDONSITE, BERLINSITE, and ALLSITES. Having groups defined by site allows you flexibility in combining group rights. You can include sites in with other authorizations for a group, but this can add complexity in multisite implementations; it is better to grant site authorizations in their own groups.

If you have a single site implementation of the system, you do not need to define a group for any site. For simple administration, select the Authorize Group for All Sites? check box for each group.

Note: If you select the Independent of Other Groups check box on the Groups tab, you must grant that group access to at least one site and one application unless the group is being used exclusively for system-level applications.
