To define a work order task further, you can use the Specifications tab in the Work Order Tracking (SP) application to classify it and add attributes to it. For example, a work order task might involve the classification of a laptop, with attributes of memory, speed, disk space, and operating system, for which you can specify values. Attributes and their values help to categorize work order tasks, which makes it easier to find and manage work order tasks.
Display the work order record that contains the task to which you want to add attributes.
Click the Plans tab. The tasks associated with the work order appear in the Tasks for Work Order [number] table window.
Find the task to which you want to add an attribute and then clickto expand the task.
Note: The system assigns a unique number in the format: work order number - task number to the expanded task. This number appears in the Reference WO field in the Work Reference Information area of the expanded task.
In the Work Reference Information area of the expanded task, in the Reference WO field, click Detail Menu and then select Go To Activities and Tasks. The Activities and Tasks (SP) application opens and displays the referenced work order task.
In the Classification field of the Activities and Tasks tab, click Detail Menu and then Classify to select a classification path (if one is not already selected) for the work order task, or to reclassify it.
Note: If the classification that you want to associate with the work order task is not in the classification path list, you can use the Classifications (SP) application to associate that classification with the work order type of records. After the classification is associated with work order records, it appears in the list of classifications you can associate with a specific work order task.
The attributes associated with that classification appear in the Attributes table window.
Click New Row.
In the Attribute required field, enter an attribute or click Select Value to retrieve a value from the list that appears, and complete the remaining fields.
Note: If the attribute that you want to associate with the work order task does not appear in the Select Value list, you can use the Classifications (SP) application to add that attribute to the valid list of attributes. After you add the attribute to the valid list, it appears in the list of attributes that you can associate with a specific work order task. If appropriate, you can add an attribute from the Select Value list that is not associated with the classification, and it does not affect the classification; the attribute is only added to the work order task.
Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each attribute that you want to add to the work order task.
Click Save Work Order .
The system displays a message that confirms that the record has been saved.
Display the work order record that contains the task for which you want to change an attribute.
