Validation

When you activate a service level agreement (SLA) in the Service Level Agreements (SP) application, the fields are validated. Any SQL statements in the Additional SLA Criteria table window on the Service Level Agreements tab are validated first. Any contents of the Condition and Escalation Point Condition fields on the Escalation tab are validated next.

The validation process checks to ensure that all SQL statements are syntactically and semantically correct. All SLA conditions and escalation conditions must be valid before you can change the status of an SLA to active.

You also can manually validate escalation conditions by selecting the Escalation > Validate Escalation command from the Select Action menu. If any of the conditions in the escalation contain errors, a message informs you that the validation failed and you must check the Validation table for errors. You expand the Validation Results table window to see a description of each error. If the error was found in the condition for an escalation point, the row(s) is highlighted to let you know which escalation point(s) had an error.

Actions and notifications are not validated.
