Create related record relationships

You can create RELATED type record relationships between tickets and work order in a variety of ways. After you relate two records, the identifier of the related record and relationship type are displayed on the Related Records tab in the respective applications.

To create related record relationships:

  1. In the appropriate application, display the ticket or work order that you want to relate to a ticket or work order.

  1. Perform one of the following actions:

Relate the current record to one or more tickets.

  1. On the Related Records tab, click Select Tickets.

  2. Select one or more records, and then click OK.

 

Relate the current record to one or more work orders.

  1. On the Related Records tab, click Select Work Orders.

  2. Select one or more records, and then click OK.

 

Relate the current record to one or more tickets with the same classification.

  1. From the Select Action menu, select Show Similar Tickets.

  2. Select one or more tickets, and then click Relate Records.

If the current record is a global, regional, or local incident or investigation record, the corresponding following option is also available:

  • Relate Records to Global Issue

  • Relate Records to Regional Issue

  • Relate Records to Local Issue

If you select one of these options, the selected tickets have the corresponding following relationship:

  • RELATEDTOGLOBAL

  • RELATEDTOREGIONAL

  • RELATEDTOLOCAL

Relate the current record to one or more tickets or work orders with the same value in a particular field.

  1. In the field that you want to match, click Detail Menu .

  2. From the Detail Menu, select one of the following actions:

    • View Related Records for Service

    • View Related Records for Service Group

    • View Tickets and WOs

    • View Work Details

  3. Select one or more tickets and work orders, and then click Relate Records.

This option is available only in the following fields:

  • Affected Person

  • Asset

  • Configuration Item

  • Location

  • Name

  • Reported By

  • Service

  • Service Group

Not all fields appear in all applications.

The actions on the detail menu differ, depending on the application that you use and the field that you select.

  1. Save the record.
