Key fields at the system, organization, and site levelKey fields at the system, organization, and site levelIf your enterprise is large and has many facilities or subsidiaries, your system administrator can set up multiple organizations and sites. Using different organizations and sites lets enterprises keep some parts of their operations separate and share others. Some records that are created at the system, or database, level contain optional Organization and Site fields that let you create records at the organization and site levels. Examples of such system-level records are condition for work, impact, regulation, and standard action records.
You can create duplicate key fields, as long as they do not create conflicts. The following rules define uniqueness:
If a record exists at the system level (that is, it has null values for the Organization and Site fields), then no other record of the same type can share the same key field.
If a record exists at the organization level (that is, it has a value in the Organization field but the Site field is null), then no other record of the same type within that organization can share the same key field.
If a record exists at the site level (that is, it has a value in both the Organization and Site fields), all other records of the same type within that organization must have a site specified if they share the same key field.
