Preparing the SRA environment

Before you install the IBM® Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA, you must prepare the storage environment.

Procedure

  1. Verify that the supported storage system microcode version is used (for information, refer to the release notes).
  2. Create appropriate-sized target volumes on the recovery (secondary) site Spectrum Virtualize Family. If you are using the IBM SAN Volume Controller, create Metro/Global-Mirror relationships between the source and target volumes and add the relationships to consistency groups, as needed. If you are using IBM SVC Stretched Cluster, create appropriate-sized stretched volumes as needed. If you are running IBM HyperSwap, create appropriate-sized hyperswap volumes as needed.
  3. Create a user on the Spectrum Virtualize Family with the appropriate privileges for the Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA. For SRA non-preconfigured settings, a user with "Administrator" or higher privilege is needed. For SRA preconfigured settings, a user with "CopyOperator" or higher privilege is needed.
