Table 1. Terms and descriptions
Component Requirements
IBM Spectrum Virtualize node A IBM Spectrum Virtualize node requires one or more power connections, depending on the server model type.
Uninterruptible power supply Each node should be protected by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). A UPS is connected directly to a rack power distribution unit.
Ethernet

The Ethernet hub or switch to which the IBM Spectrum Virtualize node is connected.

Ethernet connections are required to access the management GUI through one of the nodes in the clustered system. Simply point a supported web browser to one of the management IP addresses to connect from any workstation that is able to reach the system in your Ethernet environment.

Each node requires connections to the host systems. This could be Fibre Channel connections or iSCSI connections through the two 1 Gbps Ethernet ports on the node. If the 10 Gbps Ethernet feature is installed, you could connect to the host systems through the 10 Gbps Ethernet ports on the node.

Fibre Channel The Fibre Channel switch ports to which the Fibre Channel ports of the IBM Spectrum Virtualize node are connected.
