Physical configuration planning of the IBM Spectrum Virtualize system

Before you install the server hardware that is being used for the IBM Spectrum Virtualize™ nodes, you must plan the physical configuration and the initial settings for the system.

Procedure

  1. Go to: www.ibm.com/support.
  2. Under Support shortcuts, click Plan and install documentation.
  3. In the search box, type and search for IBM System Storage IBM Spectrum Virtualize Planning Information; then click on the search result.
  4. Click the desired link to download it to your computer.

Results

  • Follow the recommendations in the Requirements and guidelines for completing the hardware location chart topic to record the physical configuration of your system.
  • Follow the recommendations in the Requirements for completing the cable connection table topic to record the connection of your IBM Spectrum Virtualize units.
  • Follow the recommendations in the Configuration data table guidlines topic to record the data that you need before the initial installation.

When you have completed these tasks, you can then perform the physical installation.
