Adding a copy to a HyperSwap volume or a stretched volume

You can use the management GUI or the command-line interface to add copies to HyperSwap® volumes or stretched volumes.

About this task

The addvolumecopy command adds a copy to either a HyperSwap or stretched volume, which changes a basic volume into a HyperSwap or stretched volume with copies on two separate sites. Before you add a copy to convert a basic volume to a HyperSwap or stretched volume, the system must be configured as a HyperSwap or stretched system topology. The system supports one system topology configuration at a time and copies can be added to volumes that correspond to the system topology. To change a basic volume to a HyperSwap or stretched volume in the management GUI, select Volumes and right-click the basic volume and select Add Volume Copies. On the Add Volume Copies page, select the appropriate volume type and specify the pools at each site where the copies are located.

Procedure

To add a copy to basic volume to convert it to a HyperSwap or stretched volume, enter the following command, where site2pool is the storage pool on the other site.
addvolumecopy -pool site2pool volume5
