Planning the physical configuration of the system

Before the system is installed, you must plan the physical configuration and the initial settings for the system nodes.

Procedure

  1. Go to the following website to download the hardware location chart, the cable connection table, and the configuration data table,: www.ibm.com/support.
  2. Under Support shortcuts, click Plan and install documentation.
  3. In the search box, type and search for Planning Information; then, click the search result.
  4. Click the appropriate link to download it to your computer.

Results

  • Follow the recommendations in the Requirements and guidelines for completing the hardware location chart topic to record the physical configuration of your system.
  • Follow the recommendations in the Requirements for completing the cable connection table topic to record the connection of your system units.
  • Follow the recommendations in the Configuration data table guidlines topic to record the data that you need before the initial installation.

When the planning tasks are complete, the physical installation of the system can begin.
