Presets
The management GUI contains a series of pre-established configuration options called presets. Presets are commonly used settings to quickly configure objects on the system.
Presets are available for creating volumes, setting FlashCopy® mappings, and establishing RAID levels for array configurations.
Volume presets
| Preset | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Basic | Creates a single volume copy on one site. |
| Mirrored | Creates copies of a volume that exist on one site. |
| Custom | Creates volumes with customized properties. |
FlashCopy mapping presets
| Preset | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Backup | Creates a point-in-time replica of the production data. After the copy
completes, the backup view can be refreshed from the production data, with minimal copying of data
from the production volume to the backup volume. This preset automatically creates a volume with the same properties as the source volume. The preset creates an incremental FlashCopy mapping with a background copy rate of 50. |
| Clone | Creates an exact replica of the volume, which can be changed without
affecting the original volume. After the copy operation completes, the mapping that was created by
the preset is automatically deleted. This preset automatically creates a volume with the same properties as the source volume and creates a FlashCopy mapping with a background copy rate of 50. The FlashCopy mapping is configured to automatically delete itself when the FlashCopy mapping reaches 100% completion. |
| Snapshot | Creates a point-in-time view of the production data. The snapshot is not
intended to be an independent copy but is used to maintain a view of the production data at the time
that the snapshot is created. This preset automatically creates a thin-provisioned target volume with 0% of the capacity allocated at the time of creation. The preset uses a FlashCopy mapping with 0% background copy so that only data that is written to the source or target is copied to the target volume. |
