Installing VMware tools

VMware tools is required for communication between the ESX(i) Server web services and VM. VMware tools collects guest-related information such as the IP address and host name.

Procedure

To install the VMware tools:

  1. Turn on the guest OS. From the VIClient menu for the specific guest, select Install/Upgrade VMware Tools.
  2. Log on to the Windows Server (guest) and install the package.
