Monitoring
Monitoring the
system
software
and hardware components helps to
verify that tasks have completed successfully. If a problem occurs during a lengthy operation,
monitoring the task ensures quick detection and resolution.
Preventive monitoring
To prevent problems before they occur, you can monitor and verify the system hardware and software periodically. Some of the following activities can be completed on a daily or weekly basis. Typically, you complete the following activities at least every six months.
Retrieving statistics files
To view the statistics files, you need to retrieve them from the /dumps/iostats directory on the configuration node. This topic explains how to retrieve them.
Checking the status of an external storage system
You can use the management GUI or command-line interface (CLI) to check the status of an external storage system.
Monitoring capacity savings
You can use the management GUI to determine the capacity savings that are created by thin-provisioning, compression, and deduplication.
Checking the status of NVMe hosts
You can use the command-line interface (CLI) to check the status of hosts that are connected to the system via the NVMe protocol.
Monitoring MDisks and pools
MDisks and pools contain storage that is used by volumes. You can monitor MDisks and pools to determine if there are any problems with the underlying storage that can interfere with host access to volumes.
Monitoring nodes
You can monitor nodes to determine whether the nodes in your system are online.
