GUI – Defining a high-availability group

To ensure continuous storage management, multiple Spectrum Control instances can de activated and combined into high-availability (HA) groups.

Before you begin

You must define HA groups before adding storage arrays to Spectrum Control.

About this task

An HA group is a combination of two or more Spectrum Control instances, operating in the active/passive mode. Active Spectrum Control instances are backed up by the standby ones to provide uninterruptible service if one of them becomes unavailable.

Procedure

  1. Click Settings on the Settings menu. The Settings dialog box is displayed.
  2. Enter the FDQN of the first Spectrum Control and the name of the HA group that you want to create, and then click Apply. The HA group and its first member are added. The Spectrum Control, which is added to the HA group first, becomes its active member.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to define additional Spectrum Control instances as the standby HA group members. Make sure to provide the same group name for all HA group participants.
