This section describes server administrator tasks while
configuring NPIV.
Procedure
Note: When performing this procedure, ensure that your
virtual machine is turned off.
- Add an RDM disk to the virtual machine.
- Enable NPIV with VI Client by assigning virtual WWPNs.
- Record the Node WWN and the Port WWNs. Give this information
to the storage administrator so that the administrator can zone and
LUN-mask the back-end storage. See Storage Administrator tasks for information about
the zone and LUN-mask procedures.
- After the storage administrator completes zoning and configuration
of the storage, you can safely turn on the VM.
