Multipathing configuration maximums for IBM i hosts
When you configure your hosts to support multipathing, remember the multipathing configuration maximums.
Table 1 provides the configuration
maximums for the Virtual I/O Server supporting an IBM® i client that is attached to the
system.
| Object | Maximum | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Volume (HDisk) | 512 | The maximum number of volumes that the system can support for a host running an IBM i operating system (per host object). |
| Paths per volume | 8 | The maximum number of paths to each volume. The suggested number of paths is 4.1 |
|
Note: 1 Subsystem device driver path-control module (SDDPCM) for AIX® supports 16 paths per volume, but the system supports a maximum of
8 paths in order to provide a reasonable path-failover time.
