Removing a node from a rack: 2145-SV2 and 2145-SA2

You might need to remove a node from a rack.

About this task

CAUTION:
  • To lift a node requires at least two people.
  • Install a node only onto the rails supplied with the node.

Procedure

  1. Follow the procedure in MAP 5350: Powering off a node to verify that hosts will not lose access to data in volumes before you power off the node.
  2. Shut down the node.
  3. Remove power from the node by unplugging both power cables from the electrical outlets.
  4. Remove all cables from the back of the node; ensure that you identify the port to which each cable connects.
  5. At the front of the node, grasp the fascia by the blue touch points and pull it straight forward so that it releases from its mounting pegs.
  6. Unscrew the four M5 screws that secure the node to the rack, as shown in the following illustration.

  7. Slide the node from the rack.
Note: The node weighs approximately 31 kg (68 lbs). Two persons should take the weight of the node as it is removed from the rack, or slide the node directly onto a lifting device.
