Configuring the trusted platform module for SuperMicro based servers

This procedure describes how to enable the trusted platform module (TPM) on the SuperMicro platform.

About this task

When you install IBM Spectrum Virtualize on the SuperMicro platform, the TPM needs to be configured by using the server BIOS before it can be used for the encryption feature. To enable the TPM on the SuperMicro platform, complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Physically install the TPM module by following the manufacturers guidelines.
  2. Start the server and press the Del key during startup to enter the BIOS configuration utility.
  3. Enable Intel Virtualization Technology.
    1. Advanced>CPU configuration>Intel Virtualization Technology>Enable
  4. Enable the TPM module.
    1. Advanced>Trusted Computing
    2. Security Device Support>Enabled
    3. TPM State>Enabled
    4. Device Select>Auto
    5. TXT Support>Disabled
  5. Save the changes and restart the server.
