Configuration

The Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA installation creates a shortcut named IBM Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA Configuration Utility.exe on the desktop.

Double-click the IBM Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA Configuration Utility.exe shortcut to open the configuration utility.

The IBM Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA utility window has several options for you to select if you have the Non-preconfigured environment configuration. A check box is available if you are using a pre-configured environment. The Volume Type section has three options; Standard, Thin Provisioned/Space Efficient, and Compressed Volume. Other options are Test MDisk Group ID, Protect Source Vols, Src. MDisk Group ID, Protect Target Vols, and Tgt. MDisk Group ID.

VMware SRM version 5.0 and later provides two kinds of recoveries:
  • Planned failover
  • Disaster recovery
In both recovery scenarios, back up the source and target volumes. Instruct the Spectrum Virtualize Family SRA to create FlashCopy® backups of the remote copy source and target volumes by checking Protect Source Vols and Protect Target Vols.

Add the appropriate MDisk group IDs in the boxes before you promote target volumes to the VMware ESX server and recover VMs on them.
