Connecting the SAN Volume Controller 2145-CG8 to the SAN and to the Ethernet network

Before you connect the SAN Volume Controller 2145-CG8 to the SAN, you must connect the Ethernet and Fibre Channel cables.

Before you begin

Before you begin this task, see the customer's cable-connection table to find out where to connect the Ethernet and Fibre Channel cables.

One or two 1 Gbps Ethernet cables can be connected to the SAN Volume Controller 2145-CG8. The customer's cable connection table indicates the number of cables to connect. If only one cable is connected, the cable must be connected to Ethernet port 1.

About this task

To connect the SAN Volume Controller 2145-CG8 to the SAN and to the Ethernet network, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Connect the Ethernet cables to Ethernet port 1, as shown by  9 , and Ethernet port 2 ( 8 ), in Figure 1.
  2. Optional: If the 10 Gbps Ethernet feature is installed, you can connect Ethernet optical cables to Ethernet port 3, as shown by  1 , and Ethernet port 4 ( 2 ), in Figure 2.
  3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the proper connector on the Ethernet hub or switch.
