IPL restrictions

Device Mapper Multipath (DM-Multipath) is not available on either the root or boot devices.

For information about DM-Multipath configuration and administration, see Device Mapping Multipath. System re-IPL (shutdown -r) is supported on z/VM® guests only. It is not supported in LPAR mode.
