GUI – Adding a storage array

After the storage array credentials are set, you can start adding storage arrays to Spectrum Control.

About this task

The storage arrays that you add can be used by the solution components that are included in the Spectrum Control package (see Included cloud interfaces). You can add each individual storage array separately, as described in the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Click Add button on the Storage Systems pane. The Add New Array dialog box is displayed.

This image shows the Add New Array dialog box.
  2. Enter the management IP address or hostname of the array and select the storage array type (XIV®, Storwize® Family, DS8000®, or FlashSystem).
  3. Click Add. If the credentials are correct (as previously defined; see GUI – Entering the storage array credentials) and the IP connection is established, the storage array is added to the Storage Systems pane.

If the array includes previously defined storage pools, you can view their names and sizes on the array. If no pools exist on the array, you can define them, as explained in GUI – Defining and attaching storage resources.

If an array connectivity problem occurs, Spectrum Control displays a red frame around the array. Move the mouse pointer over the array, and click the red triangle to display the error message.
