Rewriting the system serial number using the CLI
The system serial number is normally rewritten by using the directed maintenance procedures. However, it can also be rewritten by using the command-line interface (CLI).
To rewrite the serial number using the CLI, issue the following command, where nodeserialnumber is the serial number of your node and nodename is the name of your node.
svctask writesernum -sernum nodeserialnumber nodename
The serial number is written to the system board. Immediately following this action, the system performs an automatic reboot.
