25 Gbps Ethernet host interface adapter ports and indicators

You can install optional 2-port 25 Gbps Ethernet host interface adapters for your system.

The system can support 2-port 25 Gbps host interface adapters that use either the RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) networking protocol or the iWARP (Internet Wide-area RDMA Protocol) networking protocol. Each host interface adapter is used for Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) connections to host systems. The ports cannot be used for system management. The Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers that are installed on the adapter support data transfer speeds of 25 Gbps.

The 25 Gbps host interface adapters can be installed in slots 2 and 3 of each node canister. Figure 1 shows an example of a Storwize® V7000 Gen2+ system.

On Storwize V7000 Gen3 systems, the optional 25 Gbps cards can be installed in slots 2 or 3. However, because node canister 1 (top) is inverted from node canister 2 (bottom), the port orientation differs.

25 Gbps Ethernet (RoCE) host interface adapter indicators

Each port on the 2-port 25 Gbps Ethernet host interface adapter has one bi-color LED that indicates the status of the link and port. The location of the LEDs varies, depending on the type of adapter.

Figure 3 shows the front of a 2-port 25 Gbps Ethernet (RoCE) host interface adapter, as oriented on a Storwize V7000 Gen3 system.

Color State Meaning
None Off The port is not active.
Green Solid The port has a valid link with no active traffic.
Green Blinking The port has a valid link with active traffic.
Yellow Blinking The link has a problem.

25 Gbps Ethernet (iWARP) host interface adapter indicators

Figure 5 shows the 25 Gbps Ethernet (iWARP) host interface adapter. Each port has a single LED that indicates the status of the port and link.
