About multisession configuration
Several characteristics must be considered when you configure an iSER multisession.
The following points apply to multisession configuration:
- The use of the supported iSER multipathing is recommended when you run the I/O with multisession.
- If the host application uses SCSI 3 Persistent Reservation, multiple iSER sessions are supported, unlike iSCSI where only a single iSCSI session is supported.
When you establish multiple sessions from the host to the target, you must consider the
following points:
- Multiple iSER sessions from the different host ports with the same IQN to the same target port are not allowed and are rejected.
- Multiple iSER sessions from a single host port to multiple target ports (with same IQN) are allowed but are not recommended.
- Multiple iSER sessions where each session is from a different initiator port to a different target port are recommended.
