Discovering iSER targets by using Send Targets

You can discover iSER target portals by using the Send Targets method.

Before you begin

The Send Targets method is configured from the Discovery tab of the iSCSI Initiator control window.

About this task

This form of discovery requires that you to type the address of one or more of your system node Ethernet ports. For each node that you want to complete discovery on, follow these steps:

Procedure

  1. If CHAP authentication is configured for this host on the system, go to step 6. Otherwise, continue with step 2.
  2. On the control window, open iSCSI initiator. Click Discover Target Portal > Advanced and select the correct adapter that was configured for iSER.
    Click Initiator IP and select the corresponding IP address through which iSER discovery needs to be initiated.
  3. Click OK.
    You are redirected to the previous page.
  4. On Discover Target Portal, enter the IP address of the target and port as 860 for iWARP connectivity.
  5. On the Targets tab, select the discovered IQN and click Connect. Select the option to enable the multipath option and click OK.
  6. If CHAP authentication is configured for this host on the system, open iSCSI initiator properties on the control window.
    1. Click Discover Target Portal > Advanced.
    2. Click Enable Chap Log on. Enter the target secret and configure the local adapter and initiator IP. Click OK.
    3. On Discover Target Portal, enter the IP address of the target and port as 860 for iWARP connectivity. Click OK.

Results

The system node port address is added to the list of target discovery portals.
