Technician port

The technician port is a designated Ethernet port on the back panel of the node canister that you can use to initialize a system or configure the node canister.

You can use the technician port to do these tasks:
  • Initialize a new system.
  • Service a node canister.
The technician port is the Ethernet port that is labeled T on the rear of the node canister. Figure 1 shows the rear of the node canister, where  1  is the technician port.

Each of the node canisters in the Storwize® V7000 Gen3 control enclosure has a 1 Gb Ethernet technician port, as shown in Figure 2. Because node canister 1 is inverted, the plug of the Ethernet cable also needs to be inverted to connect to the technician port.
