SAS port usage and status

Planning during the product placement phase includes considering the specific use of each SAS port.

SAS port usage

Table 1 lists the supported functions of the individual ports on the Storwize® V7000 Gen3 system.

    Note: These ports appear as type enclosure as shown by the lsportsas command; both SAS ports are equivalent for connecting to expansion enclosures.

Status Reporting

The lsportsas command displays two attributes for each SAS port:
  • Attachment: what currently is attached to the port (values: none/host/enclosure).
  • Type: what the port can be attached to (values: host/enclosure).
