721 An Ethernet adapter has failed.
Explanation
An Ethernet adapter failed. On Storwize® V7000, FlashSystem 7200, FlashSystem 9100, and FlashSystem 9200, the adapters form part of the canister assembly.
Data:
- On Storwize V7000, FlashSystem 7200, FlashSystem 9100, and FlashSystem 9200, a number that indicates the adapter location. The location indicates an adapter slot. See the node canister description for the definition of the adapter slot locations. If the location is 0, the adapter that is integrated into the system board is being reported.
- On Storwize V5000, Storwize V5000E, and FlashSystem 5000, a number that indicates the adapter location. The location indicates an adapter slot. See the node canister description for the definition of the adapter slot locations.
- On SAN Volume Controller, IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud, and IBM Spectrum Virtualize, a number that indicates the adapter location. The location indicates an adapter slot. See the node description for the definition of the adapter slot locations. If the location is 0, the adapter that is integrated into the system board is being reported.
User response
- If possible, use the management GUI to run the suggested actions for the associated service error code.
- On Storwize V7000, FlashSystem 7200, FlashSystem 9100, and FlashSystem 9200, because the Ethernet adapters are integrated into the node canisters, use the remove and replace procedures to replace the node canister.
- On SAN Volume Controller, Storwize V5000, Storwize V5000E, and FlashSystem 5000, if the adapter location is 0, use the remove and replace procedures to replace the node canister or system board. If the location is not 0, use the remove and replace procedures to replace the adapter. If this procedure does not fix the problem, replace the node canister or system board.
- On IBM Spectrum Virtualize, contact your hardware manufacturer.
- On IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud, contact your cloud service provider and request that they fix the hardware issue.
