KNOWN SMIT ISSUE WITH THE V6.1.2.0 PTF:


PROBLEM:

When attempting to:

- Perform a Full System (Installation Image) Backup to tape
- Create a Boot Only Tape
- Use the Device to Device Copy Feature where the output device
is a bootable tape,

the process will fail with a message that indicates that the "mp"
kernel type is invalid or support for this kernel is not installed.



CAUSE:

The SMIT interface is automatically applying a "-k mp" flag to
the backup command which is not valid on AIX 6.1.


WORKAROUND:

Perform the operation on the command line instead of using SMIT
until SysBack V6.1.2.1 is available. Do not use the "-k mp" flag
on an AIX 6.1 system. Instead, use either:

- No flag at all and let the process calculate the correct kernel
  type.

- Use the "-k 64" flag

Either option will work for an AIX 6.1 system.
